Dot Mandala Art Stone/Ring Dish Workshop

  • Wolverhampton Arts Centre Dunkley Street Wolverhampton, WV1 4AN (map)

This is a 3 hour workshop is designed introduce you to the art of dot mandala and offer participants the chance to relax, unwind and create in a welcoming and calm space with no pressure to produce the ‘perfect’ peice of art. Through repetitive, calming motions, mandala art is not only an aesthetically beautiful art form but most importantly, a creative practice that fosters inner peace, calm and brings the self into the moment. You will be painting your choice of either a meditation stone or a ring dish, hand-cast by me and ready to paint.

In this workshop you will:

  • Understand how to use guide lines to ensure a beautifully symmetrical design.

  • Learn to use dotting tools and acrylic paints to create dots and ‘swooshes’ of various sizes.

  • Use these tools to create patterns, either following a design or creating your own design!

  • Learn other foundation painting techniques such as ‘walking the dots’ (creating a trail of progressively smaller dots from a single dip of paint) and top-dotting (layering one or more dots on top of each other in descending size) to create depth or contrast in your design.

  • Seal your finished piece at home to enhance the colours, give a subtle sheen and protect it from dust, moisture and UV damage (a pot of varnish and a brush will be provided for you to take home to complete your item once it is fully dry).
