Mandala Painting Workshops

‘But I’m no good at art’ is something people often say when I talk to them about having a go at dot mandala art. Well good news… you absolutely do not need to be good at traditional art to do dot mandala art! It is very accessible for beginners, focusing on repetitive, calming motions rather than freehand drawing skills which also makes it a relaxing and mindful activity. Grid lines are used as a guide to place dots, helping you to produce a symmetrical design and using simple tools and materials like dotting rods, styluses and acrylic paints, anyone can create dot mandala designs! Dot mandala art can then lead on to developing further skills in mandala design, painting technique and colour theory. You may want to develop your mandala painting to include brushwork to broaden your mandala toolkit. There is no end to where you can take your mandala journey!

My workshops are all beginner-friendly and are intended not only to introduce you to the wonderful world of mandala art (and hopefully pass on the mandala bug), but to provide a space for mindful, calm creativity. I offer 3 workshop options:

  1. Public (purple) workshops: These workshops are open to all and take place at one of my venues, either in Kingswinford or Wolverhampton.

  2. Private group (blue) workshops: These workshops offer you the opportunity to book a private mandala workshop for a group of your friends or work colleagues at one of my venues in either Kingswinford or Wolverhampton.

  3. Mobile mandala (green) workshops: If you would like me to come to your venue to deliver a workshop, then this is the option for you! I can create bespoke workshops to accommodate timings and number of participants.

For more detailed information on these options and for upcoming workshop dates and times, scroll down through this page.

Beginner Dot Mandala Stone or Ring Dish Workshop

My beginner mandala dot art workshop is a 2.5 hour session - no prior experience required! This workshop will introduce you to the art of dot mandala and you will be painting either a 10cm mandala stone or a 12cm ring dish - whichever you would prefer. Beginning with an introduction to the origins of mandalas and mandala art, we will then look at the design you will be painting. I will introduce you to the dotting tools, then demonstrate how to use these tools to create dots and ‘swooshes’ of various sizes, working in concentric circles from a central point to create a beautiful, symmetrical dot mandala design. You will be able to choose your own colour palette, with a wide range of colours and hues to choose from. There will be time to practice on card using the dotting tools before starting to paint your stone or dish.

Next Workshops: Saturday 23rd May, 2026 - 10.30am-1.00pm

Saturday 30th May 2026 - 2.30pm - 5.00pm
