Mini Mandala Workshop

  • Wolverhampton Arts Centre Dunkley Street Wolverhampton, WV1 4AN (map)

This 2 hour workshop is a taster workshop designed introduce you to the art of dot mandala and offer participants the chance to relax, unwind and create in a welcoming and calm space with no pressure to produce the ‘perfect’ peice of art. Through repetitive, calming motions, mandala art is not only an aesthetically beautiful art form but most importantly, a creative practice that fosters inner peace, calm and brings the self into the moment. In this workshop, you will be painting a mini mandala on an FSC certified MDF coaster which can then be displayed on your mini easel (included in the workshop) or use it as a cold drink coaster.

In this workshop you will:

  • Understand how to use guide lines to ensure a beautifully symmetrical design.

  • Learn to use dotting tools and acrylic paints to create dots and ‘swooshes’ of various sizes including ‘walking the dots (creating a trail of progressively smaller dots from a single dip of paint).

  • Use these tools to create patterns, either following a design or creating your own design!

  • Seal your finished piece at home to enhance the colours, give a subtle sheen and protect it from dust, moisture and UV damage (a pot of varnish and a brush will be provided for you to take home to complete your item once it is fully dry).
