Mandala Wall Art Workshop

  • Wolverhampton Arts Centre Dunkley Street Wolverhampton, WV1 4AN (map)

This is a 4 hour workshop designed to offer participants the chance to relax, unwind and create in a welcoming and calm space with no pressure to produce the ‘perfect’ peice of art. Through repetitive, calming motions, mandala art is not only an aesthetically beautiful art form but most importantly, a creative practice that fosters inner peace, calm and brings the self into the moment. My wall art workshop requires no previous experience and is both a beginner-friendly, standalone workshop and also a great progression workshop for those who have attended any of my dot mandala workshops and would like to incorporate brush strokes. In this workshop, you will be producing your very own piece of mandala wall art on a 20cm FSC certified MDF ‘round’ (circular canvas) using both dotting techniques and brushstrokes.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Create guide lines to ensure a beautifully symmetrical design.

  • Mix a gradient colour palette for your mandala.

  • Use dotting tools and acrylic paints to create dots and ‘swooshes’ of various sizes.

  • Use rigger brushes to create long, flowing brushstrokes to create a classic mandala design element.

  • Use specialist dimensional paint to create pearl-like drops to enhance your painting and create texture.

  • Use embellishments (small mosaic mirrors) to catch the light and make your mandala sparkle!

  • Seal your finished piece at home to enhance the colours, give a subtle sheen and protect it from dust, moisture and UV damage (a pot of varnish and a brush will be provided for you to take home to complete your item once it is fully dry).
